So much has gone on this year, so we have just picked out some highlights. Staff celebrated World Cerebral Palsy Day this year by inviting local children with the condition to come along with their families and learn more about nutrition and the importance of medicine and exercise. The hospital has also started actively working with transgender people who face grave issues such as lack of jobs plus public exclusion. 

The Duncan’s Community Health Team has been working with the Mahler Foundation to offer sheltered accommodation in Raxual, plus support to patients who are destitute, many struggling with mental illness but who have nowhere to go after discharge from hospital care.

These are just a few of the initiatives carried out this year. In 2023 the DHCT launch our new nurse sponsorship fundraiser to help local girls get a life-changing nursing education at The Duncan. Look out for details in the New Year!

Later in the year as the pandemic situation eased, there was cause for celebration and moments of joy.

There is still a lot more work to be done in 2021 as The DHCT works towards our goal of funding a desperately needed Nursing School and Accommodation block, of which we will bring you more news next week.
