Running the ASHA Street Kids School involves ongoing costs - including learning resources, volunteer training, basic nutrition, classroom equipment and day-to-day centre operations. DHCT is working to raise approximately £9,000 per year to help sustain the project. This funding allows the ASHA team to plan confidently, respond to local needs, and ensure that children already enrolled are not left behind.

What the ASHA Project Does today
The ASHA Street Kids School operates a non-formal education centre within The Duncan Hospital grounds as well as partner schools nearby, providing a safe, supportive learning environment for children who would otherwise miss out on schooling altogether.
The project:
Offers early and bridge education for children aged approximately 4–14
Prepares younger children for entry into government schools
Supports older children as they transition into formal education
Provides basic learning materials, a structured curriculum and trained local volunteers
Recognises the importance of nutrition, helping children to focus, attend regularly and thrive
Children are carefully identified through community assessments to ensure support reaches those most at risk.
