Back to the 80s – and £3,000 raised for DHCT
After the success of last year’s 70s night, we moved forward a decade this year, raising £3,000 for the charity at the DHCT 80s Night.
A huge thank you to everyone who threw on their shoulder pads and leggings and danced so energetically to the nostalgic hits of the 80s. We were joined by an impressive collection of ‘stars’ – Axl Rose, Prince, Adam Ant, Madonna, Stevie Nicks, Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox, along with a few Top Gun recruits who were all spotted strutting their stuff on the dance floor at the Victoria Hall in Dunblane.

It was really lovely to see so many friends and supporters there, including our DHCT Trustees – see if you can spot them in the photos!
More support for the ASHA Street Kids School
Part of the funds raised on the night will go towards the ASHA Street Kids School at The Duncan Hospital, a project which, with the support of The Giving Tree we’ve been able to fund for the last year. On a recent visit to The Duncan we were able to witness the transformation of the children now attending the school. It is incredible to see the enthusiasm and energy from the young children who now enjoy a hot meal each day and a great start to their education.

Special thanks to all the staff at The Giving Tree, many of whom came along in style to enjoy the disco. They have chosen to continue raising funds for the ASHA school and we’re so grateful to them and all their customers.
Our first bit of help for DIYA
The night also marked the start of our support for the DIYA Project, a hospital-run initiative supporting a remote marginalised community where families face caste discrimination and children have had little or no chance to go to school. The DIYA support team have set up an educational program giving these children a chance to learn basic reading, writing and maths skills in the hope that they can then access a local government school.

As part of our support for the project, we have, thanks to the generosity of our disco dancers, committed funds to provide 250 pairs of shoes for the children in this community. We regard shoes as a basic essential but these children have never known what it is to wear a pair.
Thank you to everyone who donated, bought a ticket, dressed up and came along for a boogie. We hope you enjoy the photos!
